Michael J. Marcin has over twenty five years of experience in all areas of intellectual property law, including patent, trademark, copyright and related issues. Mr. Marcin primarily concentrates on patent and trademark related issues for prosecution, counseling, litigation and licensing purposes.
Mr. Marcin’s practice includes experience in all areas of patent prosecution including the writing and prosecuting of original applications, reexamination and reissue practice and management of global prosecution. He engages in all phases of complex patent litigation from the filing of the complaint through the appeals process. He also counsels clients on matters such as the development of intellectual property policies and procedures and the scope of intellectual property rights including rendering infringement and validity opinions, and conducting due diligence with respect to the launching of new products, the acquisition of entities or assets and the in-licensing of technology.
His experience encompasses a diverse mix of technologies in the electrical and mechanical arts including computer hardware and software, consumer electronics, telecommunications and wireless equipment and networks, mobile and web-based applications, FinTech applications, semiconductor technologies, business methods, medical devices, medical information systems, air traffic control systems, and quality assurance and inspection equipment.
Mr. Marcin also has extensive trademark experience including counseling clients with respect to potential trademark rights for new products and services, clearance opinions for using trademarks and trademark opposition proceedings in front of the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. He has also successfully conducted domain dispute proceedings for clients.
